Hey, what's your name - Fatima or Fatima Bassmah?

While my given name is Fatima, Fatima is also a holy name in Islam. Some people find using my name uncomfortable because of its religious connotations, so I invite you to call me the name that my friends call me - Fatima Bassmah (which means "smile" in Arabic). :)

Belly Dance

Belly dance is an ancient dance with modern appeal. Suitable for the whole family, belly dance is fun, good exercise, and wonderful to watch. Also called Middle Eastern dance, Oriental Dance, or Raqs Sharqi, belly dance originated in the Middle East and has been growing in popularity in the United States. Fatima Bassmah is honored to present dances of the Middle East to a larger audience, whether they are familiar with belly dance or they are new to the artform.

Thank you for visiting!
